At the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, this high-level side event will support companies to implement evidence-based, rights-based policies to help navigate demographic workforce changes.

It is hosted by the UNFPA-led Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business, an initiative that works to expand investments in sexual and reproductive health and rights across workplaces and global supply chains.

The event will illustrate how demographic transitions can be opportunities to maximize workers’ health, productivity and economic participation while ensuring inclusive and gender-equal workplaces. Achieving this vision requires the engagement of key stakeholders in a dialogue that addresses these four pillars:

  • Underscoring the return on investment of sexual and reproductive health workplace policies as a core business strategy – one that upholds workers’ rights while  improving workforce resilience, operational stability and long-term economic performance amid global demographic shifts.
  • Catalysing private-sector commitments by encouraging global business leaders to join the Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business.
  • Advancing policy integration through public and private partnerships that create frameworks for sexual and reproductive health and rights and family-friendly systems that lower absenteeism, improve retention and build structural demographic resilience.
  • Leveraging demographic intelligence for market growth by equipping decision-makers with key data – for instance, showing how ageing populations can be a high-growth market opportunity, and positioning reproductive health investments as a strategic pillar for long-term economic resilience.
