The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly opens on 8 September under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
The session convenes world leaders to drive collective action for peace and equality, with the High-Level Week taking place from 22 to 29 September.
The General Assembly is the main policy-making organ of the UN, providing a forum for multilateral discussion of international issues covered by the UN Charter. Each of the 193 Member States of the UN has an equal vote.
