To mark the 25th anniversary of ICPD, the governments of Denmark and Kenya and UNFPA are co-convening the Nairobi Summit on ICPD from November 12 to 14. © UNFPA Asia-Pacific

The event will bring together different partners keen on breathing new life into the ICPD agenda ahead of the upcoming Nairobi Summit on ICPD25.

Representatives of key governments, international, non-governmental and private organizations, parliamentarians and young people will come together on 26 September on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Asembly to discuss what's needed to ensure strong political and financial commitments to deliver on the promise of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo. To mark the 25th anniversary of ICPD, the governments of Denmark and Kenya and UNFPA are co-convening the Nairobi Summit on ICPD from November 12 to 14.

The event will provide an overview of the Summit and offer participants a shared understanding of its aims. It will also zoom in on specific areas of the unfinished business of the ICPD Programme of Action, including remarks by UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem as an original participant in Cairo.

The event will take place at UN Headquarters in New York from 08:00 to 09:30 am.
