Chad is facing multiple humanitarian crises, including conflict and cyclical natural disasters, and is one of the poorest countries in the world. Millions of people are food insecure and lack access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation facilities as well as healthcare, which severely exacerbates health risks. Conflict in the Lake Chad Basin and in neighboring countries continues to drive displacement. Chad ranks 160th out of 162 countries on the Gender Inequality Index, meaning that crisis-affected women and girls are highly vulnerable to discrimination and gender-based violence (GBV). UNFPA leads the GBV sub-cluster in Chad and is responding to the sexual and reproductive health needs of people affected by the crisis, specifically focusing on the needs of adolescents.
Results data are reported and updated as they become available.
- Targets and UNFPA's populations of concern, including women of reproductive age and pregnant women, are estimated using the MISP calculator.
- Funding estimates are based on country planning processes, including inter-agency humanitarian response plans and regional refugee and resilience plans.
