UNFPA Seychelles

A high human development country, Seychelles still faces high rates of HIV and adolescent pregnancy. While health care is provided free of charge, some barriers to reproductive and sexual health services remain. Operating in the country since 1976, UNFPA provides tailored training and advocacy to close these gaps. It supports the reduction of teenage pregnancies through youth friendly services and life-skills education, backed by supportive laws and policies. Other programmes help to extend HIV testing and counselling, and strengthen the monitoring of HIV/AIDS patients. UNFPA also assists in integrating high-quality population data in national planning.
