Solomon Islands Humanitarian Emergency

A woman with her newborn child.

The Solomon Islands are highly vulnerable to natural disasters, including cyclones, tsunamis, floods and drought. With a population of approximately 600,000 spread over 347 inhabited islands, coordination, logistics and communication challenges prevail during emergency situations. UNFPA focuses on providing sexual and reproductive health services and protection from gender-based violence to the affected populations.
