Lebanon Humanitarian Emergency

UNFPA/Sima Diab

Lebanon hosts one of the largest number of registered refugees per capita in the world: In Lebanon, one in five people is a refugee. As of March 2018, almost a million Syrian refugees have been registered by UNHCR: 76 percent of them live below the poverty line. The government and United Nations jointly convene a national steering body of the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan under the overall guidance of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Displaced. Line Ministries lead each of the ten sectors with the support of a UN coordinating agency: UNFPA is leading the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) sector working group. Since January 2018, UNFPA trained 746 personnel on SRH and gender-based violence and is to deliver 30,000 dignity kits.
