Bosnia and Herzegovina serves as a transit country for refugees and migrants. In 2019, the top declared countries of origin were Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Syria and Iran. UNFPA's response, which started in September 2018, includes technical support to local authorities on the development of Standard Operating Procedures for gender-based violence (GBV) (which came into effect in May 2019), capacity strengthening of humanitarian personnel on the integration of GBV in the humanitarian response and operating three safe spaces for refugee and migrant women and girls, which provide individual and group-based psychosocial support, educational activities and consultations on sexual and reproductive health needs. UNFPA is also providing informal life-skills education through three centres for Young Boys and Men.
Results data are reported and updated as they become available.
- Targets and UNFPA's populations of concern, including women of reproductive age and pregnant women, are estimated using the MISP calculator.
- Funding estimates are based on country planning processes, including inter-agency humanitarian response plans and regional refugee and resilience plans.
