At the ICPD, 179 governments agreed on a plan to fight poverty
by balancing the world's people with its resources, improving
women's status, and ensuring universal access to reproductive
health services, including voluntary family planning. The
State of World Population
2004 report by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund,
shows that countries have made significant progress in carrying

Among the millions of Colombians who have been displaced by
war and violence are young people who are coming of age in
the chaotic and hostile conditions in overcrowded camps. Thanks
to a UNFPA-supported project, 150 young people are learning
to communicate and express their fears, pain and hopes through
writing, drawing and dance. Twice a week, they also have access
to doctors and nurses who can provide information about sexual
and reproductive health. |
