Empowering Young People: The MDGs and Beyond

Investing in adolescents and youth is a matter of human rights. It can also provide the "greatest poverty-pay off".(2) Investing wisely in young people now will contribute to the transition to educated and healthy adults-agents of change prepared to take the vision of equitable development forward. This will demand stepped up efforts by policymakers and donors. It will require granting young people access to a fair share of resources for education, reproductive health, skills development, work and life opportunities. And it will require doing so in ways that break down gender stereotypes and expand the prospects of young women.
