In 2012 and 2013, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation provided support to UNFPA to strengthen transition to the new Executive leadership and advocacy work in family planning. Through this grant, funds were provided to 18 countries with high unmet need for family planning. The funds, which complemented already existing funding sources, provided a boost to advocacy efforts with donors and policy makers for increased commitment and resources for meeting unmet need and scaling up demand generation. The report captures examples of country activities such as campaigns, events and materials for parliamentarians, studies, and efforts to engage the private sector and religious leaders as partners for family planning.
