Purpose of Meeting
To review the experiences and policies of the developed countries on population ageing so as to identify lessons learned and best practices that can be adopted by developing countries;
to review and appraise the implementation of the ICPD PoA as it relates to population ageing, and
to identify the policy initiatives and key future actions required to meet existing and emerging needs of the elderly, with a special focus on gender and poverty dimensions.
Participants
There will be approximately 40 expert participants (including paper presenters) at the meeting representing both developed and developing countries and from all regions.

UNFPA is organizing this meeting in close collaboration with the Belgium Population and Family Study Centre.
