UNFPA Executive Director Extends Condolences to U.S. People and Government After Terrorist Attacks

In remarks to the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

Thoraya Ahmed Obaid, UNFPA Executive Director

13 September 2001

We convene our last session for this year with heavy hearts full of sadness for the tragic events of Tuesday and fears for the times to come. I pray for tolerance among people and countries. The General Assembly resolution and the words of the Secretary-General condemning terrorist attacks in the United States of America speak for all of us. My colleagues and I at UNFPA extend our condolences to the people and Government of the United States of America.
