Brussels Programme of Action for the Least
Developed Countries for the Decade 2001 to 2010

The Executive Board

1. Welcomes the endorsement of the Brussels Declaration (A/CONF.191/12) and the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010 (A/CONF.191/11) by the General Assembly in its resolution 55/279 of 12 July 2001;

2. Recalls the fundamental characteristics of the operational activities of the United Nations as contained in General Assembly resolution 56/201 of December 2001;

3. Notes the strong support given by the United Nations Population Fund to the least developed countries;

4. Stresses the need for continuing special attention by the United Nations Population Fund for the implementation of the Brussels Programme of Action;

5. Invites the Executive Director to mainstream the implementation of the Brussels Programme of Action in United Nations Population Fund activities within its programme of work, as called for in General Assembly resolution 56/227, paragraph 4, of 24 December 2001.
