High-level Thematic Debate on Achieving the SDGs

21 April 2016

New York City

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development builds on the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and seeks to address their unfinished business. The 2030 Agenda includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets. The High Level Thematic Debate on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, to be held at UN headquarters in New York on 21 April, will serve to significantly increase international awareness and political momentum around the implementation of the SDGs.

The event will bring together global political, business and civil society leaders to focus on kick-starting SDG implementation. The leaders will be offered a platform to catalyse action, discuss concrete steps forward and mobilize potential implementation partners.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals pave a brave path towards a world of greater health, including sexual and reproductive health, education and gender equality. UNFPA is fully committed to supporting every woman, man and young person to walk that path. No one can be left behind.
