The European Liaison Offices
UNFPA’s European Liaison Offices are strategically located in three key European cities. Their proximity to major UN partners in Europe, to the European Union institutions and to key supporters extends the Fund’s reach in these core areas: policy dialog with stakeholders and representation at important meetings, advocacy and resource mobilization, and media relations and communication.
Geneva Office
United Nations reform demands greater interagency teamwork and coordination. The Geneva Office fosters this harmonization by representing UNFPA in consultative processes involving UN agencies in Geneva and elsewhere in Europe, as well as at meetings of national, regional and intergovernmental organizations. The office’s location in the International Environment House, which is home to several other UN agencies and partners, encourages close working relationships.
Situated in the ‘humanitarian capital of the world’, the Geneva Office is also able to extend UNFPA’s capacity to respond quickly to emergencies. Two staff members provide technical backup and assistance with information, advocacy and fundraising activities related to humanitarian emergencies.
| Focus of work | Represents UNFPA at key meetings and processes in Geneva, Vienna and Rome. Provides technical support and coordination in the areas of humanitarian response and maternal health. |

This office also engages in outreach, information, advocacy and policy dialogue with the governments and other partners in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
