Involving Goodwill Ambassadors
Celebrities are magnets for media attention. Through the Goodwill Ambassadors programme, they dedicate their headline-generating power to drawing attention to and amplifying support for the work of UNFPA. A number of Europeans who are accomplished in various fields have been able to raise the visibility of UNFPA with diverse audiences who might otherwise not be reached. The UNFPA European Liaison Offices play an important role in supporting and promoting their activities.
European Goodwill Ambassadors include Swedish journalist Kattis Ahlstrom, Irish parliamentarian Mary Banotti, Portuguese actress Catarina Furtado, UK singer Geri Halliwell, Danish author Hanne-Vibeke Holst, Finnish singer/songwriter Mikko Kuustonen, Belgian media personality Goedele Likens, Swiss adventurer Bertrand Piccard, and Kari Jaquesson, one of Norway's leading fitness personalities
