Su Alteza Real la Princesa Heredera María de Dinamarca se convirtió en Patrocinadora del UNFPA para apoyar la labor del organismo orientada a promover la salud materna y una maternidad más segura. A través de su fundación, la Mary Foundation, trabaja para impulsar cuestiones humanitarias, sanitarias y sociales con el fin de mejorar la vida de los niños, los adultos y las familias.

Entre sus prioridades de patronato del UNFPA están la salud materna y la maternidad sin riesgo.
