UNITED NATIONS, New York, 14 December 2007 - UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, mourns the loss of three of its staff members and all persons who died as a result of Tuesday’s bombing in Algiers.

UNFPA Requests $38 Million to Assist Crisis-Stricken in 24 Countries in 2008

First UNFPA Office to Serve Gulf Cooperation Council Countries Opens in Oman
MUSCAT, Oman, 30 March 2006 - UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, has set up its first subregional office to serve countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The new office is located in Muscat, Oman, and is being funded by the Government of Oman.



UNFPA Calls for End to Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting
UNITED NATIONS, New York, 06 February 2006 - UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, today pledged its continued efforts to end the harmful practice of female genital mutilation or cutting, which is inflicted on an estimated 6,000 girls every single day.
