Chasing the Dream:
Youth Faces of the Millennium Development Goals

UNFPA on behalf of the Interagency Group consisting of the UN Millennium Campaign, UNESCO, UNHCR, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, the Youth Employment Network of ILO and the World Bank, and the Youth Unit of DESA, has coordinate a photojournalistic exhibit entitled Chasing The Dream: Youth Faces of the Millennium Development Goals .

Chasing the Dream explores the dreams shared by millions of young people worldwide, as well as the very real obstacles they face trying to achieve their dreams, or even just trying to survive. Profiling in photographs and text the lives of eight young people in eight locations – Brazil, Cambodia, India, Jamaica, Morocco, Uganda, the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Northern Uganda, and the Ukraine – Chasing the Dream explores their extraordinary desire to better themselves, whatever the odds. The exhibit also shows photographs and statements by young people detailing their own particular likes and dislikes, hopes and fears, exploring some of the social issues that frame their lives. As Ms. Thoraya Obaid, UNFPA Executive Director says: “We need to remind ourselves that there are millions of young people who desperately need to be given a chance. As for their dreams, they are quire capable of chasing them by themselves.”

The exhibition is free and open to the public from 9.15 am until 4.45 pm, seven days a week through October 27, 2005 at the United Nations Visitors' Entrance Main Gallery. Admittance is through the visitors' entrance on 46 th Street and 1 st Avenue in New York; photo ID required for entry.
