Adolescent Reproductive Health, Including HIV/AIDS

There are no specific laws or policies that address adolescent sexual and reproductive
health issues.

Girl’s Education

Education is compulsory until the ninth grade.

Labour and Employment

The minimum legal working age in the West Bank and Gaza is 15 years, and there are special limits governing the conditions of employment for juveniles between 15 and 18 years, including prohibitions against working at night, under conditions of hard labour, or in jobs that require them to travel outside their communities.

Gender Issues

There are no specific policies directed towards eliminating gender inequalities in health
and education, nor any related to gender based violence against adolescents.

International Conventions

Palestine has ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, but has not ratified the
Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women.

Age at First Marriage

Early marriage is common in Palestine and there is no legislation defining the age at first
marriage.
